SOME NOTABLE CLUSTERS Online Premiere
I have been lucky enough to compose a large piece for solo viola player Daniel James Hudson - Some Notable Clusters for solo viola, orchestra & electroacoustics. As part of a vast composition called Ecliptic Observations, this is a series of nine sections, each of which evokes nebulae, star clusters, black holes and even supervoids located in constellations in the 14-constellation Ecliptic (through which the Sun passes during the course of a year.)

We went for an online premiere on January 1st, 2021 - a link to the Vimeo showcase and an interview with the composer :

FIRE
for Orchestra
Commissioned by Greenpeace and the London Paresci Players with Ron Spigelman in 1990
Listen to two extracts here
Back in 1990, I was approached by renowned conductor Ron Spigelman, who, at that time, was conducting the London Pareschi Players, to write - along with three other composers, including Peter Fribbins, a series of pieces that had been commissioned by Greenpeace. The theme of the event was the four elements i.e. Water, Earth, Fire and Air (Wind, in this instance). The cycle was premiered in St James' Church, Piccadilly in April 1990. The pieces were then published by Ron Spigelman's own publishing venture, Pareschi Publications.

Many years later, in 2003, the St Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra Klassika commissioned me to make a new version for a slightly larger orchestra, that somehow enhanced the drama of the piece even further. Both performances blew the audience away with the sheer visceral fury of the music.
It is this later version that has been published by Scherzo Editions.
